On the second day of Splintered, we drop in at the Ivory Palace. The Ivory Queen welcomes us, wearing a long gown stitched of spider silk and silver lace. Christmas is at home in Ivory’s glass castle, where everything glimmers with ice crystals, even the transparent walls, making it cold and desolate.
Ivory spends her days and nights looking out through the glass as the warmth of the world passes by but never actually touches her. The solitude seeps into her soul, bleak as winter. She’s always ready for any holiday that gives her reason to have guests. For in her beautiful, pristine desolation, nothing ever changes. And she would give up all of the white gold in her kingdom to experience life and love just once. Ivory’s lonely heart is trapped, just like the one in this crystal ornament—a tribute to the castle’s glass walls.
